Author Guidelines

AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Authors are invited to submit original scholarly manuscripts to the Journal of Novel Research. All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, originality, and compliance with basic academic and ethical standards. Manuscripts that meet these criteria are sent for double-blind peer review. Editorial decisions are based on originality, academic quality, methodological soundness, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the journal.

  1. Article Types and Scope

The journal accepts original research articles, review papers, conceptual papers, and other scholarly contributions relevant to education, social sciences, and allied disciplines, as outlined in the journal’s Aim and Scope.

  1. Manuscript Preparation and Format

Authors must prepare manuscripts in accordance with the following requirements:

  • Manuscripts should be written in clear academic English.
  • The recommended referencing style is APA (7th edition).
  • The manuscript should include an abstract, keywords, main text, references, and appendices (if any).
  • Tables and figures should be embedded at appropriate locations within the text and properly labelled.
  • Word limits and structural details for different article types are provided in the Preparing Your Paper section.

Authors are responsible for ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency throughout the manuscript.

  1. Double-Blind Review and Anonymisation

To ensure a fair double-blind peer review process:

  • Authors must upload a manuscript without author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, funding information, or any other identifying details.
  • Self-references should be written in a neutral manner that does not reveal author identity.

Submissions that do not comply with anonymisation requirements may be returned to authors before review.

  1. Required Submission Files

Each submission must include the following two mandatory files:

  1. Blinded Manuscript: A complete manuscript prepared for double-blind peer review, without any identifying information.
  2. Cover Letter: The cover letter should include:
    • Title of the manuscript
    • A statement confirming originality and exclusive submission
    • Disclosure of any competing interests (or a statement that none exist)
    • Confirmation of compliance with the journal’s ethical standards

Submissions that do not include both files may be returned without review.

  1. Ethical Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • The submitted work is original and has not been published previously or submitted elsewhere.
  • All listed authors have made a substantial scholarly contribution and have approved the submission.
  • Appropriate ethical approval and informed consent have been obtained for research involving human participants, sensitive data, or institutional access, where applicable.
  • Permission has been obtained to reproduce any copyrighted material, including tables, figures, images, or datasets.
  1. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

Authors may use Artificial Intelligence (AI)–based tools for limited purposes such as language editing or analytical assistance. However:

  • Any use of AI tools must be clearly acknowledged in the manuscript.
  • Authors retain full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the content.
  • AI tools must not be listed as authors.

Failure to disclose AI use, where applicable, may result in editorial action.

  1. Editorial Screening and Desk Rejection

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s academic standards, ethical requirements, formatting rules, or submission conditions may be desk-rejected without external peer review.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal. If any part of the work has appeared elsewhere, a clear explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor.
  • I confirm that the manuscript is original, free from plagiarism, and that all sources have been appropriately cited and referenced.
  • I declare that any use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)–based tools (for example, for language editing, data analysis assistance, or content generation) has been clearly acknowledged in the manuscript, and that the authors take full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the work.
  • I confirm that the study complies with applicable ethical standards and that informed consent was obtained where human participants were involved, where applicable.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word format
  • Where available, URLs or DOIs for the references have been provided.
  • The manuscript follows the stylistic, structural, and bibliographic requirements specified in the Author Guidelines of the journal.
  • I confirm that I have uploaded the complete manuscript without author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, funding details, or any other identifying information, prepared for double-blind peer review.
  • I confirm that I have uploaded a cover letter containing the manuscript title, originality declaration, disclosure of competing interests (if any), and confirmation of compliance with journal ethics.
  • I have disclosed any actual or potential competing or conflicting interests related to this manuscript, or have stated that no such interests exist.

Authors retain copyright of their work and grant the Journal of Novel Research the right of first publication. By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the work is original, that all authors consent to publication, and that no rights have been infringed. Published articles may be shared and used with appropriate attribution to the authors and the journal.

Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
